The main challenges in this sector
The main challenges in this sector
Very high energy consumption
Paper drying alone accounts for up to 70% of a mill’s thermal energy consumption. Optimising heat transfer is therefore a priority.
Massive use of water
Pulp production requires huge quantities of water (between 200 and 400 m³/tonne). Thermal recycling and recovery of hot effluent are essential to reduce consumption.
Filled, fibrous and corrosive fluids
The circuits carry sludge, fibrous liquids or chemicals (particularly for bleaching), which can quickly clog or corrode conventional heat exchangers
Growing environmental pressures
The sector is subject to increasingly stringent regulations in terms of thermal discharges, emissions and energy consumption.
Our involvement in the sector
At Nexson Group, we design heat exchangers adapted to the difficult fluids and industrial constraints of the pulp and paper industry. Our solutions increase energy efficiency, reduce maintenance costs and improve overall unit performance.
Sustainable heat transfer for the paper industry of tomorrow
Spiral Heat Exchangers
Perfect for fibrous or fouling liquids, thanks to their self-cleaning design. They are ideal for effluent heat recovery circuits or dirty condensate streams.
Plate / Welded Heat Exchangers
Compact, high-performance heaters used to heat water, thermal oil or steam, with high thermal efficiency and a compact footprint.
Heat exchangers resistant to aggressive fluids
Can be manufactured in 316L stainless steel, duplex or other alloys to withstand acid or alkaline bleaching agents, which are very common in the process.
Tailor-made engineering
Our heat exchangers reuse the energy contained in wastewater or hot gases, reducing the plant's overall energy consumption.
